Brief Biography
Rose Weaver's almost 30 years as an entertainer includes TV shows, roles in several films (including The Accused opposite Jodie Foster) and numerous theatre performances, including many seasons with the Trinity Repertory
Company in Providence, RI where she has played Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grille, the longest running play in Trinity's history.
As a vocalist, Weaver's repertoire includes the songs Ellington, Fats Waller, Gershwin, Cole Porter, Billie Holiday, spirituals, holiday favorites, patriotic songs and standards. She has sung solo, with her own jazz ensemble and with pops orchestras.
Dr. Weaver has a BA in English from Wheaton College, an MFA in creative writing from Brown University, and an honorary doctorate in fine arts from Marymount Manhattan College. Her plays Skips in the Record and Silhouette of a Silhouette are currently under consideration for production.
Weaver is a recipient of the Lucille Lortel Playwriting Award, the Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts, and the RI Foundation's Antonio Cirino Memorial Fellowship and New Works Award 2001. She is member of Screen Actor's Guild, Actor's Equity Association and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
